As I am local to them I inquired if I could stop by to pick up the plants (to save shipping) to which they said "no", oh well. The stock that arrived (quickly) were the same anemic plants that I am all too used to receiving from online ordering. Within a month of planting (placed in ground at the same time as other stock from competing companies) the Direct source Hostas all gave up the ghost. Since they have no guarantee my recourse will be to reorder from elsewhere.
I have about 50 Hostas around my home so I am familiar with their care, and other Hosta in the same area are doing well, so this came as a disappointment after reading all the praise and the communication I had with the owner.

I plant when I have time. Usually I just leave them in their pots and put the plant, pot and all, in the garden for a year or two, until they have a great root system. Now, if I can only stop the voles from eating the roots I would be a much happier hosta lover. Being able to give this company feedback excited me as I feel they deserve credit for all they have done since their beginning years. I went back to check their negatives and feel that since they were given in their infancy, I could understand a couple of problems. Obviously they have corrected problems and continue to improve their site on a regular basis. Since I'm really not a computer flash, I appreciate the simplicity of Direct Source's web site and have found it to be most helpful when I'm checking out what I want to add to several of my hosta gardens.
This year I ordered 10 new "kids" and when the order arrived on the 7th of May, I was excited to see what they looked like live. Beautiful as usual, healthy and packed as if they were one of a kind. They did run short of two in my order and as usual, a check was in the shippment and not a credit to order next time. I just had fun and picked out a couple more "kids" and they just arrived this week, looking just as healthy as the others.

I ordered 10 different hostas, and all arrived in excellent shape, having been packaged very carefully. All of the plants were just starting to leaf out when they arrived, and within a week 9 of the ten were full of lush green foliage.
I did have one that didn't seem to be performing very well, and unlike the others was still very small after three weeks in the ground. I sent a quick email to Jerry, and he had me a replacement plant on my doorstep within 4 days! The new one looks great just like the others!
Jerry's plants are healthy, have very good size, and he stands behind his product...All for a very reasonable price. You can't go wrong with DirectSourceHostas! |
