I placed two orders this season and was impressed with selection, quality of plants and outstanding packaging - by far the best packaging I have seen in over 10 years of ordering plants on line. On top of that, they are courteous and even sent a follow up to make sure my plants arrived safely and that I was satisfied. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I ordered plants from Lazy S and then had to notify them to hold my shipment due to Hurricane Ike, which they did. Later, I added to the shipment and asked a few questions, but no matter how many times I went back, I received congenial and prompt service. And when Ike was finally through with us, I received this lovely shipment of plants. A few were blooming when I unpacked them. I could tell by looking at them that they'd been well-cared for children. I've had them in the ground now going on a month or so and they're all putting on new growth and looking strong and healthy especially the hellebore. I've recommended this on-line nursery to anyone who is interested and will continue to shop there myself.

I've been ordering plants from Lazy S'S for several years now and am very pleased with the service and plant offerings. My favorites are the helleborus plants I've ordered ( healthy and strong - amazing plants in the late winter - early spring when they start blooming ) and a "Dr. Seuss Euphorbia." aka Euphorbia characias 'Wulfenii.' When the anemone plants I ordered in the past bloomed this fall, I just had to have more. So I ordered several different varieties of anemone plants and will get those planted today. Thank you, Debby, for all your help and for providing wonderful plants for the rest of us to grow.

I ordered a variety of Sedums from Lazy S. They were packed well, but were generally unhealty and scragly.

Company representative comment on October 19, 2008:

On Oct 19, 2008 11:20 PM, Lazy S'S Farm & Nursery added:

The single hardest group of plants we ship are small groundcover Sedums. They're tough in the ground but bits and pieces often break in packing, during the shipping process and even when the customer is unpacking. We often cut them back hard when appropriate to avoid having stems break off at soil level. It often means, as a result, that where most of our Perennials arrive lush looking, the small, Groundcovers Sedums arrive safe but looking just 'okay' -- not lush and full. Two of the plants in his 6 plant order were Sedum hispanicum 'Purple Form' -- full grown, about 1/16" tall and so fragile and baby soft that blowing on them really hard could probably break a piece off. I don't know if breakage or being cut back hard was part of the problem in their looking "scraggly" but the smaller Sedums between some occasional breakage and what we cut off for safety, rarely look gorgeous but generally arrive in safe growable condition.

I went out today and looked at our remaing crop of the three varieties he ordered and they were fine but I wish I could have done that a 5 weeks ago when they'd just been shipped. Maybe they were cut back too hard, maybe while the packing looked good to him, it wasn't what was needed for safety, maybe the box was jarred more than normal. I don't really know and there's no way to tell after more than a month. I would have loved to have seen a picture of arrival condition, had that been possible. Then I could have made a reasonable decision about how best to serve him -- with replacements or return shipment and a refund.

We go out of our way to make customers happy and post in numerous places, including mails, to contact us if any plant appears damaged or unhappy.

To any customer with any Vendor -- if you're displeased with a transaction, start by contacting the Vendor. I think most Vendors want happy customers -- it seems logical. You folks pay our bills! If the Vendor doesn't respond after a mail (or I'd send two just to be sure), then if you get no results, posting a Negative rating seems very justifiable.

I'm sorry Mr. Parsons didn't contact us and that we didn't have the opportunity to serve him better.

I ordered 3 "golden Peep" forsythia which were shipped on october 6th. They arrived on october 8th in perfect shape. The soil was still moist with water, and the plants had beautiful green leaves and no broken branches or anything. The packaging of the plants is in such a way that they will not get damaged. I would say on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate them a 12. I would recommend Lazy S's Farm and Nursery to everyone and will buy from them again.

With the prices at Lazy SS Farms I honestly thought that the plants would be tiny leafless sticks but the selection was so wonderful, I figured I'd give them a try anyway. I was surprised at how large (knee high), full, and healthy they were. The communication was great, the plants shipped quickly, were packaged for ultimate protection during shipping, and arrived in perfect health with all the directions needed to give them a good start in my garden. I'll definitely use Lazy SS Farms as my preferred nursery. Although I usually prefer to buy locally and avoid shipping and handling charges, in the case of this nursery S&H is worthy paying to get the selection, price, and quality. I have recommended them to all my gardening friends.

This was the first time ordering from Lazy S and it certainly wont be my last! All communication via e-mail was very personal for my situation and particlar plants. When the plants arrived, they were in perfect condition due to being packed so well. Another e-mail told me what to expect when they arrived. I have ordered from many nurseries before, but never had the service or quality plants that Lazy S provides.

This was my first order with this company. The two Buddleia plants I ordered arrived in excellent condition. The box was clearly marked indicating it contained live plants and directions for the postal carrier where to place the package. In addition, the quality of the two plant stock was simply impressive! In addition, the instructions that came with plants was very clear on what I needed to do with their immediate care.

Lazy S'S also provided great communication to me via emails on when the plants were about to be shipped and when they actually were mailed and when I could expect delivery. With those emails, they even provided a template of a notification form to provide to our postal delivery carrier to give them advance notice that live plants would be arriving shortly.

I would definitely order from this company again.

I will never waste my time ordering from another online nursery again. The communication, quality of the plants and ship time far surpass any of the others I have tried. The packing is sheer genius and the plants arrived happy and safe! You could roll the box down the street like a set of dice and the plants will remain 100% intact.
I have made two orders this year and received beautiful specimens of echinecea, Dendranthema, hemerocallis, helianthus and aster.
I am now working on my third order for fall.
Take the worry out of online plant shopping- Debby is friendly, helpful and personal and every plant is quality. They

Great communication, really pleasant to deal with. I placed two orders at the very end of the season. They were able to put them together and ship promptly. The plants were incredibly well packed -- the best packing I've ever received from mail order -- and looked wonderfully healthy. I also found their on-line catalogue descriptions really helpful and thorough -- although I would have liked to be able to search by common name as well as Latin name. Prices were also quite reasonable. Will definitely order from them again.

The entire staff at LazySS Farms is to be commended. Their customer service, quality and packaging are outstanding. I have been ordering from them for 3 years, and have never received a plant of poor quality, or damaged in shipping. Debby, one of the owners, goes above and beyond what is expected of customer service. They do not send plants that are not of sufficient quality. This year, she replaced some mislabeled plants, and let me know she had a few specimens of some plants that were cancelled earlier. She held them for me until she received confirmation of my order even though she had not yet received payment. I really appreciate the personal attention and service I receive here.

It's settling in in my garden and I'm looking forward to seeing the flowers AND the hummingbirds!

I ordered from Lazy S'S Farm & Nursery for the first time this year and I have to say that their customer service is the best! Debby, who co-owns Lazy S'S with her husband Pete, was extremely attentive to my needs and took time to adjust my order repeatedly after I made several additions to my order. Then, after a situation required me to cancel some orders unexpectedly, Debby was very understanding and helpful in accommodating me. Later, when I was able again to place an order, she treated me very personably and took time to respond to each of my questions even though I know that she and her husband are both very very busy.

The plants I ordered - a Ruby Spice Clethra (Summersweet), a Winter Beauty Hamamelis (Witch Hazel), and a Royal Fern, all arrived exactly when promised and in excellent condition. On top of that, Lazy S'S Farm has a great selection of plants to choose from as well. Highly recommended!

I ordered three shrubs from Lazy S, a Preziosa hydrangea and two dictamnus, one purple and one white. The shipped the same week they had projected, but I got an e-mail at the time of shipping saying that the white dictamnus was not up to their standards, and wondering if I wanted a refund, or a second purple dictamnus instead. I appreciated that they did not just send out a sub-par plant, and gave me options to choose from in replacing it.

The plants were extremely well packaged when they arrived, and were healthy and happy despite having sat in the post office all weekend. They had sprinkled moisture crystals on top of the soil, topped it with spagnum moss, wrapped it in plastic wrap held with rubberbands, and then set it inside another qt. pot. There was no loose dirt in the package, and none of those annoying packing peanuts to content with. Just snugly packaged, happy plants!

The plants themselves looked great, and are currently hardening off, per their clear instructions, before being planted.

Thanks for a great experience, Lazy S. I will be buying from you again!

I ordered some wildflowers from Lazy S's last year, with variable results. On balance it was a positive experience, but the trillium I planted never came back this year, and the cardinal flower died despite almost nonstop watering during the summer drought. The blue cardinalflower, by contrast, was a large, healthy plant and bloomed the first year. The Dutchman's breeches has also come back this year, but it hasn't bloomed yet. I would recommend this nursery, but I would also recommend inquiring about the age & size of plants before ordering.
