I appreciate that the garden designs use readily available plants. The most recent edition has more photography in addition to the drawings which I find helpful.
This is one of the best gardening books that I own. The garden plans are great and they provide concrete examples and the details needed for me (and you) to create the layout. There are garden layouts for 20+ common scenarios with sun and shade options for each. I have adopted one of the layouts to line the front of my house and I will be sure to use some ideas when I focus on landscaping my backyard. The plant pictures are also good, though do not expect a complete listing of plants (all the ones used in the book are included). If you live in the Mid-Atlantic region and you would like some ideas to spruce up your gardens, buy this book!
