A book I refer to all the time! excellent reference, and i wouldnt be without it. In clear language, it explains everything you need to know from seed to bloom. A must in every gardener's library!
Very good reference for any gardener that wish to start their own seedlings. The list of plants is quite extensive with a drawing of the plant and its description and cultural needs.
Out of all my gardening books, this is my favorite. Since I found it, the rest sit on the shelf collecting dust. I use it all the time...wouldn't be without it!
Wow, I got this book based on the recommendations here and I am not disappointed. An exaustive list of perennials and annuals with their specific propagation requirements and times. Really helpful when planning on using seeds to fill a garden!
I got this about a month ago and really like this book, saves a lot of time when I go to start seeds. Am glad it was recommended here. Love It!! If you dont have it get it !! Going to order another for a friend.
What a great reference book. I don't think I can add anything new but I do agree with everything posted. This book comes out every Dec. when I start getting ready to order seeds.
I think this is an excellent book. I am a beginner to all things gardening related. This book gives excellent information on seed starting, germination and more on a horde of annuals and perennials. I checked it out from the library twice and bought it today, I refer to it often.
A must-have for seed growers! Gives information on germination times, conditions, temps, and planting depths. Also provides info on transplanting outdoors and general care once your little seedlings are mature plants.
This is an indispensable book for those wanting to start propagating from seed or for experienced gardeners alike.
This is my garden bible! If you don't know the botanical name, the common names are listed in the back and then refers you to the botanical name. It gives you all the information from sowing seed, light, temps, height, etc. It also tells you when to deadhead, save seed, divide, etc. This book goes to the garden with me when I plant. GREAT book!
Subtitled "How To Grow Over 500 Annuals, Perennials, and Herbs" that in itself should explain what's inside the covers of this book!
Just as in a garden, each entry is given a place of its own but yet is not being slighted by others.
The information for each contains what type plant it is, what zone they grow in, the time of flowering (spring, summer, winter, fall) plus gives info pertaining to when to start seeds, how long till they germinate, what temps to grow them on, whether they require full sun or shade, etc.
Get the book! This one, along with "Seed To Seed" (Suzanne Ashworth) is a must for beginners as well as the seasoned gardener.
